August 2023 news!
What happened in August 2023 at Phyto-info… We'll tell you all about it!
Hello everyone 🌿
It’s in August that we put the ends 🎶 Between heat waves and thunderstorms, the month of August was rather calm in phyto-info.com. We have given ourselves a well-deserved break and we hope you have done the same. We have regained our strength, we have filled up with energy and ideas and we are ready for the start of the school year 🥰
Added plants 👏
We continue in the linden series. While last month we entered small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata) into our database, here are two other linden trees with substantially the same properties:
- Large-leaved lime (Tilia platyplyllos)
- Lime (Tilia x europaea)
If there’s only one thing to remember about linden trees, it’s that they help with insomnia. They are used in many other uses, I’ll let you discover them on our platform.
How do you recognize small-leaved lime, large-leaved lime, and lime? Here is the game of the four differences:
Small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata)
- Small leaf (no kidding!)
- No hair below the leaves
- 5 to 10 flowers
- Small tufts of red hairs at the intersections of the veins under the leaves
- Source: Tela Botanica
Large-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos)
- Large leaf ( ! )
- Slightly hairy below leaves
- 2 to 5 flowers
- Small tufts of white hairs at the intersections of the veins
- Source: Tela Botanica
Lime (Tilia x europaea)
- Large leaf
- No hair below the leaves
- 5 to 10 flowers
- Small tufts of red hairs at the intersections of the veins
- Source: Tela Botanica
All three have similar characteristics and can generally be used in the same way.
Regarding the addition of plants, we give our members the opportunity to choose the plants to include in our search tool; Feel free to let us know your preferences by email.
You asked us for black elderberry, we are still working on it, it will soon be ready! We will also take the opportunity to take stock of the dwarf elder, the one that is scary 😳
Continuing Education 👏
Because it is important to share knowledge about plants and because no one has the infusion of science, we continue to learn in order to transmit better. To do this, our president chose to take the training Knowledge and use of aromatic and medicinal plants over two years of theBreton School of Herbalism. The topics covered will be, among others, biochemistry, pharmacognosy, botany and herbalism; the first practical internship took place in August. We will keep you informed as progress 🙏 is made
